Trek Valley of Roses Morocco, between Boumalne de Dades and the Mgoun Valley
We will begin our trek in the Dades with a series of canyons dug by the waters of the Mgoun and Dades wadis descending from the High Atlas. Once this aquatic path is crossed, in a landscape declining all the nuances of ochres, the valley of roses is there in its green setting. A long series of traditional villages and earthen casbahs, surrounded by invisible gardens where the rose of Kelaa Mgouna grows, await us during this trek along the Mgoun wadi .
This hike in the Valley of Roses in Morocco is a clever mix of canyons and gorges, typical villages, and casbahs with grandiose architecture. Mules will accompany you throughout your excursion to meet the Berber Mgouna tribes. They have built their fortified villages and majestic casbahs, and cultivate fruit trees, vines and fragrant roses along the rivers, which they pick in early May. The end of the harvest is the occasion for a huge party in Kelaa Mgouna.
The Valley of Roses Morocco, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful valleys of the Moroccan Atlas to discover by hiking trekking. Treks can be done from spring to autumn, because the route follows the riverbed; the ideal period remains April and May when the scent of roses perfumes the entire valley of roses.
