Meet your driver in Marrakech for an immediate departure for southern Morocco. You leave for Ouarzazate, where the atmosphere is already reminiscent of the Deep South, via the Tichka Pass at
2260m, one of Morocco’s most beautiful mountain roads. You continue through the Draa Valley to Agdz, on a lovely winding road. The road skirts the Draa Valley, where ochre-colored palm groves and skours (fortified villages) follow one another along the Draa River. Settle into your guesthouse, run by a French couple who will offer you a particularly warm welcome.

Night in Agdz.
We continue along the long, fertile Drâa strip. You’ll discover a landscape of flower-filled oases, orchards and palm groves. Inhabited since prehistoric times, the villages of the Draa region began to flourish in the late 16th century, thanks to the Saadian trans-Saharan trade in gold, salt and spices. A prosperous and fertile land, the Draâ valley had to withstand numerous assailants, as witnessed by the watchtowers and ksours that stand amidst the palm groves. Once through the valley, you’ll enter the heart of the Drâa Hamada, where sand and stone deserts meet: the Sahara opens its doors to you! Lunch at your leisure on the way. It’s in the Chegaga dunes that you’ll discover your camp for the next two nights.
250 km of road and a little track.
Night in the Chegaga dunes.
A whole day dedicated to the desert!
You can relax and enjoy the Saharan atmosphere by staying at the camp, or decide to discover the surprises of the desert by 4×4 with your driver.
Night in the Chegaga dunes.
Return via the dry lake of Iriki, an immense plateau at the foot of Mont Bani, to Foum Zguid, still a lively village. After around 2h30, you reach Ouarzazate. On the way, don’t hesitate to ask your driver for a stop in Tazenacht, a town famous for its colorful geometric carpets. Lunch on the way. In Ouarzazate, there may still be time to discover the Taourirt kasbah. At the heart of the Saharan world, a former garrison town during the French protectorate, Ouarzazate lies on the caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara. A crossroads of civilizations and peoples, the region has enjoyed great prosperity for centuries, with particularly flourishing trade and crafts. The region is also famous for its Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village that has been the setting for numerous international film shoots. Protected by UNESCO, it is constantly being restored.
You will spend your last night near the Ksar.
